Today is International Day of People with Disability so I would like to write a poem about disability to raise awareness about it…
Stand for handicap!
Dear friend in perfect health, have you ever wondered…
How would your life be if you had to live it in the dark?
Without eyes to see colors or daylight, forced to move around with a guide dog or a cane to keep you safe from danger,
Have you ever wondered how it feels when you can no longer walk nor run in a park?
Some are paralyzed and forced to move in a wheelchair,
Others have one leg left and can not always afford a prosthesis made of laminated resin,
They must continue to face life with courage even if they are scared,
And accept having lost a part of themselves while they secretly dream of a new skin.
Have you ever wondered how it feels to live in a parallel world where a lot of people judge you without knowing?
Teasing, insults or disgust which these people are victims are still unfortunately too numerous nowadays,
In today’s society, difference continues to create controversy and many disabled people are still suffering,
Now it’s time to show them your support so they can hope for better days…
Hope you enjoyed this poem. Remember that the only disability in life is a bad attitude. Hugs 🙂
