Dear innovative cuisine lovers,
Today I discovered a new concept of burger: the Bao Burger or Chinese-style burger at Siseng restaurant, in République area. This is the first Parisian restaurant offering this specialty which is a huge success worldwide…
Siseng restaurant is an Asian Food Bar created in January 2015 by Stéphane Siseng, a young Sino-Laotian French. This is a family business. The young boss shares his time between the kitchen and the dining room. His mum, a distinguished cook, is in the kitchen, and his aunt takes care of accounting.
The place has 30 seats with 2 little counters, a bar and tables. Siseng restaurant stands out for its Bao Burgers that are known to make everyone agree. There are only 2 kinds of Bao Burgers which combine Japanese cooking techniques, Chinese spices and Thai condiments.
I tried the Bao Burger Kaï made with Chinese bun, Japanese-style marinated chicken breaded, basil sauce and coconut milk, pickled red peppers, homemade coleslaw and fresh basil. All I can say is that it was delicious! The chicken was perfectly crispy and I loved the sweet and savory combinations typical of Asian cuisine…
My friend chose the Five Spices Bao Burger made with Chinese bun, marinated beef with 5 spices, tamarind caramel sauce, onion tempura, pickled onions, rocket salad and spinach. I tasted a piece. The meat was tender and it was just as tasty!
It is really difficult to choose between these two Bao Burgers and I hope that the chef will create new varieties soon…
What’s the price? 10 euros if you only take the Bao Burger.
As we are greedy, we decided to choose the 15 euros Lunch Menu including a Bao Burger, sweet potato fries and house drink of the day (green tea, kaffir, lemon leaves syrup and ginger-ale), yum!
Opening hours: from Tuesday to Sunday (from noon to 11:00 pm). Where to find it? 82 Quai de Jemmapes 75010 Paris.
